This Sunday, May 3rd, Juan and Christina will be performing in Piel Canela's Theatre Show "Que Rico Mambo - Ayer Y Hoy" (yesterday and today). Piel Canela is a NYC based Latin Dance Company under the direction of Joe Burgos. Their show will take place at the Aaron Davis Hall on 150 Convent Avenue at 135th Street in NYC. We are planning a field trip to applaud Piel Canela's efforts to bring Salsa into theatres in NYC just as we do for our Salsa community in NJ. We share their desire and mission to take Salsa and Latin Music and Dance to another level by bringing you events in quality venues such as this one, and we want to come out and show them our CX family support!
This dance production focuses on the last 25 years of salsa. What happened after the Palladium? What were the ups and downs of mambo in our lifetime...What new bands, clubs, sounds came about after the 60's? In addition to Salsa and Mambo numbers, the show will have AfroCuban, Bellydance, Acrobatic Dance, Samba, Hip-Hop, and Hustle performances. There will also be video interviews with NYC's top band leaders, including Willie Villegas, Frankie Morales, Jimmy Bosch, Bobby Allende, Johnny Colon, Ralph Irizarry, and many more! With a cast of over 50 dancers, 15 performances, interesting video interviews, and an after-party with plenty of social dancing, you are guaranteed a great night out with this event!
